Teaching Ecological Responsibility Recreation and Adventure
![]() | IntroductionT.E.R.R.A is an integrated program at Timiskaming District Secondary School located in Temiskaming Shores. This program is designed for students with a keen interest in exploring and learning about the natural world. We do numerous outdoor activities such as winter camping, camping, bird banding, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing and much more. This program not only allows students to develop outdoor skills but it also teaches them about bonding with other people, which is one of the most important aspects of T.E.R.R.A. Also with this program, people discover things about themselves and learn that they can do things that they never thought they could do before. The T.E.R.R.A program also does an immense amount of bird banding at the local Hilliardton Marsh. The banding goes on year round for past, present and future T.E.R.R.A students. |
What to exepect in the TERRA program
The T.E.R.R.A program students do an immense amount of bird banding at the local Hilliardton Marsh. The banding goes on year round for past, present and future T.E.R.R.A students. The T.E.R.R.A students give local public school class tours of the marsh and let them hold and learn about bird banding.
We also go on several different trips across Ontario. The places we go have included Sault Ste. Marie to Sault College, Lindsay to Sir Sanford Fleming College, Haliburton Forest, Madawaska Kanu Centre and Smooth Water Wilderness Centre. Each of these places teaches us something new and interesting about ourselves.
